Secretary Reading
Hi my name is ________ and I'm an addict.

This is an open NA meeting. We ask that you respect the primary purpose of this meeting which
is to provide a safe place where addicts can share their recovery.

We would like to extend a special welcome to the newcomer. Is this anyones very first NA
meeting?

In NA, we celebrate the miracle of clean time.

Does anyone have 24 hours clean or just coming back from a relapse?

Anyone with 30 days clean?

Anyone with 60 days clean?

Anyone with 90 days clean?

Anyone with 6 months clean?

Anyone with 9 months clean?

Is there anyone with one year continuous clean time?

Anyone with 18 months clean?

Is there anyone with multiple years clean today?

Will all those with a year or more please raise your hand to show the newcomer that this
program does work?

Our business meetings will be held on the last Tuesday of every month, please come and lend
your support.
We celebrate on the last Tuesday of the month. To celebrate at this meeting we ask that you
attend a business meeting 2 months prior to your celebration so that we can get you a
medallion. Is there anyone celebrating at THIS meeting at the end of the month?

The seventh tradition states that every NA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining
outside contributions. We will pass the basket to help pay for rent, coffee and literature. The
literature is on the table and is free for the taking, except for the books which are our price-
your terms. What that means is if you need a book, please see me or the chairperson after the
meeting and we will work something out.

Now back to the chairperson.

Chairperson Reading
Welcome to the Reach Out group of Narcotics Anonymous.

My name is _______ and I'm an addict.

We would like to open this meeting with a moment of silence followed by the serenity prayer.

Can someone please read:

Who is an addict?
What is the NA Program?
How it works?

Can we have a hand for all the readers? Now we'll turn the meeting over to our secretary...

Hi I'm ______ and I'm an addict. NA has no rules, but this group does have a few suggestions:

Please silence any electronic devices, as they are a disruption to the meeting.
There is NO smoking anywhere on the church grounds. We ask that you please smoke
ACROSS the street and dispose of your cigarette butts accordingly. We have many
meetings in this building and we wish to respect the churches request. Thank you for
helping with this.
We ask that you do not bring any drugs, weapons or paraphernalia into this meeting.
You are welcome but they are not. This is for the protection of the group, the meeting
place and NA as a whole.
If you have used within the past 24 hours, please refrain from sharing. We would like to
hear from you and not the drugs. Do, however, get with someone after the meeting and
talk with them
This meeting has a rotating format. We will read the first 3 steps out of the Basic Text, one each
week, followed by a speaker sharing on the step for that week.

The 4th week will be a "Pop Topic" meeting. Topics will be picked at random from a basket
passed around to everyone at the beginning of the meeting. The meeting will then be open to
anyone that wants to share on their chosen topic, but please feel free to share whatever you
need to, whether it is related to the topic or not.

This meeting is only an hour long. To allow everyone a fair chance to share, we have a timer
that will go off after 3 minutes. After the timer goes off, please wrap up your sharing. The first
five minutes of this meeting are reserved for a burning desire. A burning desire is if you want to
use drugs. Then the meeting will be open to a show of hands. Tonight.....

(Announce the format and, if applicable, introduce the speaker AFTER we are done reading
from the basic text- unless it is a Pop Topic meeting in which case there is no speaker)
