At approximately 10:42 pm, MPD officers were in the area for a previous shooting when
they attempted to stop a subject. The subject attempted to flee and ignored multiple
commands from the officers to stop. A struggle ensued and there was an exchange of
gun fire. DC Fire and EMS transported the suspect to an area hospital, where he
succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The suspect has been identified
as 47-year-old Timothy Lionel Williams, of no fixed address.
Two MPD officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local
hospital in stable condition.
A gun was recovered on the scene. No other individuals were injured during this
incident. The officers involved were placed on administrative leave, pursuant to MPD
policy.
