The Carnac stones are a dense collection of prehistoric sites around the French village of Carnac.
There are over 3,000 standing stones, the largest such
collection in the world, but their purpose has never been discovered. About the stones There are 12 converging rows of standing stone stretching more than a kilometer with the remains of a stone circle at either end.
The largest stones are around 4m high at the western end

But archaeologists have had a hard time finding accurate
dates since little material has been found that could be used for radiocarbon dating. Theories Local myth states that a Roman legion was on the march when wizard Merlin turned them into stone.
One researcher thought that it was an elaborate earthquake
detector.
Another theory is that the stones were erected by ancient
people to honor their ancestors.
The stones were also thought to be made to communicate
