ABSTRACT

Degenerative diseases which are prevalent in the community and have a high rate of
mortality and also affecting persons life quality and productivity such as hypertension
disease. The prevalence of hypertension patients is increasing. Survey result showed in 2000
by 21% to 26.4 % and 27.5 % in 2001 and 2004. In West borneo 2007 recorded that primary
essential hypertension diseases 7903 was a new cases .
The purpose of this research to know the relations of knowledge about lifestyle with
patients behavior in preventing stroke in Puskesmas Lirang Singkawang Selatan Tahun 2015
This research design using analytic correlation with cross sectional approach. This research
done on January until May 2015 in Puskesmas Lirang Singkawang Selatan. Sampling
technique which used is consecutive sampling numbers of respondens in the research is 71
responden.
The result showed knowledge about lifestyle behaviors in the prevention of stroke
patients with hypertension that less as (54.9%), knowledge about lifestyle behaviors in the
prevention of stroke patients with hypertension that is quite as much (26.9%), and knowledge
of the lifestyle the behavior of patients with hypertension in stroke prevention is better as
much (15.5%). Based on the results of analysis show that n or amount of research data is 71
then the value of p = is 0.003 (p <0.05). It means that Ho is rejected and Ha accepted.
The conclusion of this research correlation of knowledge about lifestyle behaviors in
the prevention of stroke patients with hypertension in Pusekesmas Lirang Singkawang
Selatan 2015.
Hypertension patients are expected to understand and be able to increase knowledge
about the lifestyle that can change the behavior of patients hypertension to prevent the the
risk of stroke, always check and blood pressure control to health services and seeing signs
likely to cause symptoms or complications in patients with hypertension through the health
professionals .
