CONTRA LA MUJER
El motivo que llev a la Repblica Dominicana a solicitar este da fue por el macabro
asesinato de las tres hermanas Mirabal, activistas polticas dominicanas, hecho que tuvo
lugar el 25 de noviembre de 1960, por rdenes del dictador dominicano Rafael Lenidas
Trujillo.
todo acto de violencia basado en el gnero que tiene como resultado posible o real un
dao fsico, sexual o psicolgico, incluidas las amenazas, la coercin o la prohibicin
arbitraria de la libertad, ya sea que ocurra en la va pblica o en la va privada.
En dicha Asamblea se reconoci que eran necesarios "una clara declaracin de los
derechos que se deben aplicar para asegurar la eliminacin de toda violencia contra la
mujer en todas sus formas, y un compromiso de los Estados z de la comunidad
internacional en general para eliminar la violencia contra la mujer".
INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (or
DIEVCM), adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in its
resolution 50/134 of 17 December 1999, is celebrated annually on November 25
in memory of sisters Mirabal.1 The proposal to be held on that date was made by
the Dominican Republic, with the support of 60 countries.
The reason that led to the Dominican Republic to apply for this day was by the
gruesome murder of the three Mirabal sisters, political activists Dominican fact
that took place on November 25, 1960, on orders of Dominican dictator Rafael
Leonidas Trujillo.
In 1981 was held in Bogot, Colombia, the First Latin American and Caribbean
Feminist, which decided to mark the 25th November as International Day Against
Violence Against Women, recalling the murder of the Mirabal sisters.
In 1993 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the Declaration on
the Elimination of Violence against Women, which defined the term "violence
against women" as
any act of gender-based violence that results in actual or possible physical harm,
sexual or psychological, including threats, coercion or arbitrary prohibition of
liberty, whether occurring in public or private road
.
In the Assembly recognized that were needed "a clear statement of the duties to
be applied to ensure the elimination of all violence against women in all its forms,
and a commitment of States and the wider international community to eliminate
violence against women

Dans l'Assemble a reconnu que fallait une dclaration claire des fonctions
appliquer pour assurer l'limination de toutes les violences contre les femmes sous
toutes ses formes, et un engagement des tats et la communaut internationale
pour liminer violence contre les femmes
