Outside Broadcast Script ( The Regal Cinema 20 Year Anniversary )
Radio Broadcaster: The Regal Cinema celebrates its 20 years on the
Boroma Way site this week with an exciting party for members and special guests with a drinks reception followed by a special screening of The Lost City of Z, a James Gray film based on the novel by David Grann. The Regal first opened their doors on the 26th February back in 97 with a gala premiere of The Crucible with the Mayor, the late Terry Buckett, cutting a reel of film to open the new building. After a public outcry and campaign to save it led by Henley Residents Group and Henley Fighting Fund and backed by George and Olivia Harrison, Waitrose were forced to change their plans to put a provision for a cinema to be rebuilt on the site. Now to James, who is on the scene now.
On The Scene Interviewer: Thank you Morgan, Im here at The Regal in
Henley for their spectacular looking anniversary party with none other than the owner himself x , thank you for having us here tonight, and what are your thoughts on this occasion? Did you ever believe The Regal would make it this far?
Interviewee: Its a pleasure to host for so many guests tonight, and in
response to your question Im as surprised as you are really, there were various times in The Regals lifetime where I was certain it would be the end, although the most rocky area that I can recall in recent memory would be the fiasco with the construction of the new Waitrose that almost ran us out of business, but thanks to a public outcry and a very thoughtful campaign made by Henley locals , forced Waitrose to reconsider their plans.
