 LAST SERMON OF HAZRAT MOHAMMAD (S.A.W.W)

All praise is for God.

We praise Him and
His help and ask Him for forgiveness of our sins and express our repentance before Him.
We seek protection against mischief of our hearts and our evil actions.
Whomsoever God guides on the right path no one can lead him astray and whomsoever God
does not give guidance no one can guide him aright.
And I declare this truth that
there is no God except Allah
and I declare this truth that
Muhammad is His servant and His Apostle.
O servants of God! I advice you to worship Him and I persuade you to do so.
I begin with these sacred words.

O people! Your blood and your property have been sanctified to one another till you
are presented to your Lord.
O God! Be our witness!

Deliberate murder shall be avenged. For the death caused unintentionally by club or stone
the compensation fixed is a hundred camels.

O people! The change of months (i.e. sanctified months) is an addition to the ways of
apostasy and through it the idolaters fall into further wrong path that a month made
permissible one year and prohibited next year so that by manipulation they substitute the
number of the months prohibited by God.
O people! Your women have been given some rights in respect of you and you have
been given some rights in respect of them.
Beware that I have conveyed the word O God! Be Thou the Witness.
So do not, after me, go back to the ways of idolatry and slay not each other.
I am leaving with you a thing that as long as you follow it, you will never go astray,
and that is the Book of God.
O people! God has assigned a specific share of inheritance to each heir. To will more than
one-third of ones property is not permitted.

Human thinking cannot improve on these speeches and no social system has in practice been
able to create such an order as indicated in these edicts. Wherever and whenever Islamic
movement commences and the system of truth is established it must be founded on these
very firm ideologies and concepts.

 . SPEECH BY STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

Honorable chief guest,

Worthy Director,

Distinguished guests and my fellow Graduating Students,

Assalam-o- Alaikum

It gives me immense pleasure in standing before you this morning on behalf of the
Graduating Students of CIIT Abbottabad on the auspicious occasion of our convocation -
the much awaited moment in the life of every student. I am here accompanied by my
fellow Graduating Students, who are anxiously waiting to be conferred the degrees by our
worthy Rector whose virtual presence through video link has added an aura of
respectability to todays ceremony.
Thank you Sir, for being with us at this momentous event of our lives.

I would like to extend my gratitude to our parents and teachers who are here with us
today, and who have always stood by us through thick and thin in the expeditious
attainment of our goal. I must acknowledge that it is due to our parents that we were able
to get into this highly prestigious educational institute of the country.

It is because of our parents and teachers that we have achieved our goal and our long
cherished sweet dreams have come to fruition. We are fully conscious of the fact that our
parents have spent their hard-earned money and have rendered every possible sacrifice to
enable us reach this stage. I would request my fellow Graduating Students to rise from
their seats and give them a standing ovation as a mark of respect and acknowledgement
for the great job done.

Let me also acknowledge the untiring efforts rendered by our alma mater and our
respectable teachers towards our intellectual, spiritual and moral grooming thereby
bringing about a metamorphosis in our personality traits. I thank them all on behalf of my
fellow students. We fully admit the unremitting endeavors of the CIIT Abbottabad in
providing us the state- of- the- art learning facilities and an environment conducive for
learning. I can confidently say that CIIT Abbottabad will continue nurturing the coming
generations the way it nurtured us.

I am glad that along with a degree, we are taking a treasure of pleasant memories with us
that would always remind us of the wonderful time that we spent here. On taking trip
down the memory lane, I remember 0800 hrs classes in the chilling winters of
Abbottabad and nobody could afford missing them due to the fear of 80% attendance
rule. I feel a chill in spine while recalling the hectic routine of unending assignments,
quizzes, presentations, exams and a

plethora of other events. I have the reminiscences of the Techno moot, sports week and
the convocations.

My ears still resonate with the musical performances of Funkada and the inspiring
debates and declamation competitions of Campus Literary Society and functions
organized by HERTZ society of Engineering Department. The colourful festivals
arranged by Aardish still flash in front of my eyes. All these past memories that were
once part of our lives will continue exciting us wherever we are.

I feel pride and honor in saying that CIIT Abbottabad enhanced us not only on the
academic front but also refined our character and personality, and for this we owe a lot to
CIIT Abbottabad. I admit that mere words are not sufficient to pay our gratitude to CIIT
Abbottabad unless we prove it by our action and character. Let us promise today that we
will do our utmost to bring a good name to our great alma mater and keep its flag high
under every circumstance. While leaving the portal of this great institution, we salute our
teachers and the CIIT Administration who played a pivotal role in shaping our
personality.

In the end, I would like to congratulate my fellow students on the successful

accomplishment of their academic career and would like to remind them that today we
are standing at the threshold of our practical life and todays achievement is not the end
of our career rather it is a beginning of a more arduous and challenging life in the years to
come and we cannot afford to rest on our laurels as complacency breeds inactivity and
dampens the much needed enthusiasm.

Lets make the best use of the precious moments of our lives, contribute towards nation
building and change the world into a much better place for the progeny.

COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT)

Abbottabad Campus

COMSATS (Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in

the South), established COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) in 1997.
The CIIT, besides its principal campus at Islamabad, has seven other fully functional
campuses at Lahore, Abbottabad, Wah, Attock, Sahiwal and Vehari. In addition to this
our virtual campus and campuses at Gujrat, Gujjar khan and Jaffereabad are made
functional this year. On the advice of the Federal Government, efforts are under way for
establishment of more campuses in the province of Sindh as well. The CIIT is exploring
possibility of opening international campuses in the Gulf region, more specifically in
UAE, and Saudia Arabia.

Serving Nationally but Working Regionally

CIIT Abbottabad, located in the peaceful scenic valley of Abbottabad, is a dynamic

center of education, offering high quality teaching, extensive academic courses and
excellent support services to students from all over Pakistan.

CIIT Abbottabad is a name synonymous with progress and commitment since its
inception. Presently, imparting quality education to more than 6220 students with 16
under graduate and 17 graduate programs the campus has an exponential growth since the
initial intake of just 121 students in 2001. Our Faculty comprises of 331 highly qualified
and dedicated teachers including 123 PhDs. 106 faculty members are on leave for higher
studies.

Since its inception, CIIT has made exponential progress in the diverse fields of education,
research and takes particular pride in applied research. Research in fields of
Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering, Development Studies, Management
Science, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Science and Mathematics was recognized
across Pakistan. According to recent HEC's ranking of Pakistani Higher Education
Institutions and Universities, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) has
been ranked at number 1 in research ranking among 132 HEC recognized universities
of Pakistan among Computer Sciences & IT Category during year 2012.. CIIT has been
ranked at number 6 in research ranking of Universities on the basis of cumulative
Impact Factor based on Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) web of knowledge
(USA), as notified by HEC during year 2012. Among all universities / DAIs, CIIT has
been ranked at number 5 during 2013, as notified by the HEC. Up till 2013, 8 technical
books in the fields of Electrical Engineering and Management Sciences and over 550
research papers have been published in HEC recognized journals. Further more 6
International Patents have been registered, 24 Research Projects and 2 International
Collaborations are underway.

At CIIT Abbottabad, it is ensured that students have access to the very best facilities
which include 45 fully equipped laboratories, over 32,000 library books, in-campus
hostel facility for over 1000 students, internet facility with on-campus Internet Service
Provider and excellent opportunities for co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
Modern and state of art laboratories at LiSCENT- Life Science Services Center, IT
Center, and ERC-Engineering Resource Centre, operated by skilled personnel offer
analytical services in the field of Microbiology, Biotechnology, Physico-chemical
Testing, Pharmaceutical Services and Electrical Engineering/IT related subject. Labs are
also providing research facilities to MS and PhD Scholars. In addition to this, CCDU is
working as Centre of Excellence in their respective fields e.g community
development/poverty alleviation.

CIIT Abbottabad Milestones achieved so far

CIIT Abbottabad campus is known for its exponential growth in academic, extra
curricular and knowledge sharing practices. CIIT Abbottabad is focusing its special
attention on personal grooming of its students and Faculty in the arena of Quality
Teaching, Research Productivity and Effective Industrial Linkage/ liaison.

Arranging of Exhibitions, Workshops and Conferences are the regular feature in the
academic activities of CIIT Abbottabad. A unique national level Mega Event consisting
of seminars, symposia, Industrial Exhibitions, and Panel Discussions under the title
of TECHNOMOOT are being arranged annually at CIIT Abbottabad since 2004. A bi-
annual International Level Conference ESDev- Environmentally Sustainable

Development is another feather in the cap of CIIT Abbottabad. The Fifth conference on
ESDev-2013 was organized by the Department of Environmental Sciences CIIT
Abbottabad. International Conference of Frontiers of Information Technology FIT is
an annual activity in the field of Computing and Telecommunication since 2003. FIT
2012 once again attracted huge number of national/international researchers for
presenting their research work. The Department of Management Sciences successfully
conducted a national level Community Outreach workshop on framework for economic
growth of Pakistan in collaboration with GINI and Planning Commission of Pakistan in
October 2011.

CIIT Abbottabad is also a socially responsible institute and has participated actively in
times of crisis like Earthquake 2005, during the issue of IDPs and floods. Floods in our
country have washed away most of the achievements of the past 60 years. The houses,
agricultural fields, live stock, and the very fabric of our society have been shattered by
these floods. COMSATS Institute of Information technology Abbottabad responded well
in time to this national crisis and devised a flood relief campaign. As a result of this
campaign, millions of Rupees were collected and spent in the areas of Charsadda and
Kohistan in the form of food items and clothes. The Faculty of CIIT Abbottabad provided
their full financial support and contributed 1.7 million rupees to combat the natural
disaster. Currently concepts like adopt a student, adopt a family, and adopt a
village are being devised for long term rehabilitation of flood victims.
CIIT has also taken the complete responsibility of boarding/lodging and education of 100
orphan kids under the sweet home project.

CIIT Abbottabad is ISO 9001:2008 certified academic institution which clearly speaks of
its adherence to the academic standards management at International level. CIIT
Abbottabad is proud to hold this unique honor in respect of Educational Institutions of the
country.

The Department of Electrical Engineering achieved another honour when it was awarded
License of Professional Engineering Body by Pakistan Engineering Council. After the
award, the Department successfully conducted series of workshops on practical problems
faced in the field of Electrical Engineering for its young Faculty.
