To whom it may concern,

My partner and I are students at Austin High School and are a part of a program
called the Academy for Global Studies. In our geometry class, we are working on a
project called Packaging Efficiency Project. For this, we chose a product, in this case
Keebler Graham Crackers, and had to make the packaging more efficient than the
original.

To test the volume of the graham crackers we used water displacement. We did
three trials to make sure our calculations were accurate. Once we found the volume
of the graham crackers (363.12 cm3), we subtracted that volume from the volume of
the package itself (590.52cm3). We found that about 39% of your packaging was air
space! Also, the surface are of your package was 549.08cm2. We noticed that your
package used an excessive amount of cardboard to package the item.

For our new design, we shortened the length, width, and height of your
package. This decreased the amount of air space by 24%, which is more than half! We
also reshaped the tabs on the package to use less cardboard and still provide
adequate closure. We reduced the total amount of cardboard by 116.565cm2. We kept
the same rectangular prism shape to make the change as easy as possible. These
changes will save your company money and time. We hope you will consider making
these changes to your package.

Sincerely,
