Engineering Combines The Fields Of Science And Maths To Solve Real World
Problems That Improve The World Around Us. What Really Distinguishes An
Engineer Is His Ability To Implement Ideas In A Cost Effective And Practical
Approach. This Ability To Take A Thought, Or Abstract Idea, And Translate It
Into Reality Is What Separates An Engineer From Other Fields Of Science And
Mathematics.
This Privilege Corral To INDIA And For INDIAN Students Due To IITs,
Iisc Whose Effort Made Engineering And Technology To Reach
Indians,,,Due To Which Today INDIA Is Standing One Of The Top Listing
Countries In The World In The Field Of Technology..
That Knowledge Wisdom Society The Indian Institute Of Science (Iisc) And
Seven Indian Institutes Of Technology (Iits At Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati,
Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras And Roorkee) Jointly Administer The Conduct Of
GATE. Which Is The Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering (GATE)
And Is An All India Examination Administered And Conducted Jointly By The
Indian Institute Of Science And Seven Indian Institutes Of Technology That
Are Listed Below On Behalf Of The National Coordination Board - GATE,

Miq = mean + standard deviation, of marks of candidates in the i session of that subject.
In 2014, examination for CE, CS, EC, EE and ME subjects is being held in multiple
mul sessions.
Hence, for these subjects, a suitable normalization is applied to take into account any variation in
the difficulty levels of the question sets across different sessions. The normalization is done
based on the fundamental assumption that"in
that all multi-session
session GATE papers, the distribution of
abilities of candidates is the same across all the sessions".
sessions". According to the GATE committee,
this assumption is justified since "the number of candidates appearing in multi-session
multi subjects
in GATE 2014 is large and the procedure of allocation of session to candidates is random.
Further it is also ensured that for the same multi-session
multi session subject, the number of candidates
allotted in each session is of the same order of magnitude."
Based on the above, and considering various normalization methods, the committee arrived at
the following formula for calculating the normalized marks, for CE, CS, EC, EE and ME subjects:
where,
Mij is the actual marks obtained by the jth candidate in the ith session,
Mgt is the average marks of the top 0.1 % of the candidates in all sessions of that subject,
Mgq is the sum of mean and standard deviation of marks of all candidates in all sessions
of that subject,
Mti is the average of marks of top 0.1 % of candidates in the ith session of that subject,
Miq is the sum of mean and standard deviation of marks of candidates in the ith session of
that subject.
After
er evaluation of the answers, normalized marks based on the above
formula will be calculated using the raw (actual) marks obtained by a
candidate in the CE, CS, EC, EE or ME subject. The "score" will be
calculated using these normalized marks. For all other
other subjects (whose tests
are conducted in a single session), the actual marks obtained by the
candidates will be used in calculating the score.
Graph showing the linear relationship between marks and score in GATE.
Mq = Qualifying marks for general category candidates.
Mt = Average marks of top 0.1 % or top 10 (whichever is higher) candidates.
Sq = 350.
St = 900.
Note: In case of multiple-session
multiple subjects (EC, CS, ME, EE and CE), "marks" considered
are the "normalized marks".
where,
S = Score (normalized) of a candidate,
M = Marks obtained by a candidate ("normalized marks" in case of multiple-session
multiple
subjects CE, CS, EC, EE and ME),
Mq = Qualifying marks for general category candidates in that subject (usually 25 or +
,, whichever is higher),
= Average (i.e. arithmetic mean) of marks of all candidates in that subject,
= Standard deviation of marks of all candidates in that subject,
Mt = Average marks of top 0.1 % or top 10 (whichever is higher) candidates in that
subject,
St = 900 = Score assigned to Mt,
Sq = 350 = Score assigned to Mq.

Regarding The Tips And Analysis For The Preparation As Per The Guidance
Of Our Wisdom Team Members.
1). If The Preparation Is For One YearThen Start Following C4 Formulae.
2). Collect All The Relevant Books For The Subject. This Collection Must
Include The Books For Fundamental And Basic Concepts As Well As For
Specific Problems, Guide Book For GATE And Previous Year Question Papers.
3). Always Try To Go Through The Standard Books Which Are Easily
Available And In Which You Can Easily Understand The Concepts. This Will
Improve Your Learning Ability.
4).One Month Before The Examination You Should Start Revising The Course
As Many Times As Possible So That On The Day Before The Exam You Will
Be Prepared Enough To Crack The Exam.
7).Always Try To Attempt Only Those Questions In Which You Are Pretty
Confident And You Know The Answer Very Well.
8).Read The Questions Carefully And Apply Proper Logic Before Marking The
Answer.
11).Do Not Try To Get Hold Of The Entire Syllabus Prescribed By GATE. A
Selective Preparation Would Be A Very Helpful
Concept And Should Be Learned Accurately.
13).I Feel That It Is Better To Have Flexible Time Plan Before Going To Exam
And Have A Balance Of Mind. It Helps In Avoiding The Silly Mistake
In all the papers, there will be a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of
which 10 questions carrying a total of 15 marks are in General Aptitude (GA).
In the papers bearing the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME,

GATE Eligibility
2. Determine the GATE paper you wish to appear for. A candidate is allowed
to appear in ONLY ONE paper.
3. Choose the City of choice to appear for the examination: There are two
primary choices and one secondary choice. If you choose a particular city as
your first choice, then the corresponding zone to which this city belongs will
appear, and you will be able to choose another city as your second choice only
from this
his zone. These choices will be your primary choices in a specific zone.
However, a third choice has also been introduced in GATE 2015, which is your
secondary choice. The list of 3rd choice cities will be as specified by each zone
and this will be used only
ly when your cities of primary choice are not available.
However, because of operational constraints, the GATE committee reserves the
right to add a new city or remove an existing one, and allot a city that may not
be any of the choices of a candidate.
The categories of candidates eligible to appear for GATE 2015 are given in
Table below.

From the analysis of recent GATE exams from 2014, EDC and ANALOG
ELECTRONICS are holding good weight in marks as well as the standard of
questions. Diode circuits, BJT amplifiers, FET biasing and amplifiers,
MOSFET physics and DC analysis, Frequency response, and Operational
amplifier applications and wave shapingmust be concentrated more for better
weightage. Also these topics are playing important role in interviews of IITs
and IISc admissions for Mtech through GATE. The students can get good
concepts and finds number of problems from the textbooks like-

Out of all the subjects, the above mentioned subjects will require more attention
and a student can gain good score if he/she is able to the solve the questions in
these subjects in addition to the remaining subjects.
Digital circuits is another interesting subject which looks like an easy subject
but requires more practice. The student should practice the problems on logic
gates, logic families, combinational and sequential logic circuits,
microprocessors, etc.
