In late September international industry experts gathered for two days
in Trondheim to focus on intelligent fields and integrated operations.
ore than 300 delegates attended the 5th
International Conference on Integrated
Operations in the Petroleum Industry. The
IO 09 Conference, billed as: the international meeting
place for business and science, was well attended by
players from around the world who all recognize that
intelligent fields and integrated operations are becoming
even more important in improving productivity.
Presenters shared their experiences about working
with various technologies and work processes for better
productivity and safety in integrated operations.
One of the presenters was our Telemetry Business
Development Manager Gbenga Onadeko who is based in
the Drilling & Measurements headquarters in Houston.
At the conference, Gbenga introduced our recently
announced joint venture with National Oilwell Varco to
provide high-speed drill string telemetry systems. In his

coordinator, responsible for monitoring
and controlling the offshore operation from
Well Testings operation support centre (OSC)
in Aberdeen. He explains the joba surface well

Well Testing was given a 2-week window to
mobilize equipment . They designed a specific
spread to handle the complex fluid interfaces
including a separator, two gauge tanks, a surge
tank, several tote tanks, and five transfer pumps.
The real-time operation involved transmitting
downhole gauge data from Completions Services
in real time along with the surface well test data. A
brainstorming session with Completions to look at
options, followed by a hands-on training session,
overcame software and hardware issues to allow
the real-time transmission of both segments data.
Two hours after the job started, the well was
flowing better than expected, and Maersk Oil
asked Well Testing to flow the well at a higher rate.

Gbenga reports that his presentation was well
received, and was followed by a discussion session where

complex operation was the planning and design
phase and the strict adherence to Testings
service delivery procedure (SDP) during the job
