Is task-based teaching culture free?

Task-based teaching focuses on the usage of authentic language and on asking

students to implement significant tasks using the target language. Hence, teaching
through this approach has still some considerations to take.

Cultural indifferences have always been the issue in teaching L2 learners. Factors
that affect cultural restraints beget classroom discussion to diverge.

Students from different parts of the world have disparate learning styles. Task based
instruction obligates the participating L2 learners to commit to a responsibility,
which is the task itself, to execute. Not all learners have the capability or open to
grasp the provided task.

In the view of the fact that L2 learners have cultural diversity in terms of learning
styles, as teachers, we need to contemplate the learners way of garnering
information. Some learners are unwilling to express their ideas whilst others
participate and speak too much. This requires a higher level of creativity, patience
and initiative in the part of the teacher.

Therefore, utilizing the essence of the task based teaching as the basis of teaching
L2 learners is a great stratagem to bring about the best possible outcome to the
students learning. In the event of cultural restraints, the best teachers always make
amendments to cope with the learners needs without affecting the efficacy of the
approach. Thus, cultural indifferences should be taken as consideration in task
based teaching.
