Terms
Formula- a mathematical relationship or rule expressed in symbols.
The math formula was used to calculate the area of a square.

Column- an upright pillar, typically cylindrical and made of stone or concrete,


supporting an entablature, arch, or other structure or standing alone as a monument.
The building was getting the old columns replaced to help support itself.

Row- a number of people or things in a more or less straight line.


The row of people blocked my vision of the concert.

Workbook- a single file containing several different types of related information as


separate worksheets.
The scientists workbook file was stolen for its important information.

Cell- a small room in which a prisoner is locked up or in which a monk or nun sleeps.
The prisoner persistently tried to escape his cell but failed.

Excel Definitions
Formula-Using formulas in spreadsheets can allow you to quickly make calculations and get totals of multiple
cells, rows, or columns in a spreadsheet.

Column-A column is a vertical series of cells in a chart, table, or spreadsheet.

Row-A row is a series of data banks laid out in a horizontal fashion in a table or spreadsheet.

Workbook-A workbook is the Microsoft excel file in which you enter and store related data.

Cell-A cell is the intersection between a row and a column on a spreadsheet that starts with cell A1.
