I am writing this letter of recommendation on the behalf of applicant Sydney Sahlfeld. I am

currently a teacher and multi-sport coach at Glencoe high school and I have had the opportunity
to work with Sydney since I began teaching here in 2014. I have had the pleasure to work with
Sydney in the classroom as a student in my Graphic Design class and as an athlete in the weight
room. Sydney is a very driven, loyal and committed student and athlete, and I feel she would
represent you and your organization extremely well.

Sydney is a very involved student around the city of Hillsboro and at her school. Her family has
been a mainstay at Glencoe high school, being involved in some way for the past 24 years.
Sydney has been very willing to carry on the tradition of servitude that her seven plus family
members have done before her. Along with being a very accomplished athlete on the softball
field, Sydney has dedicated her fall season to the high school volleyball team. She has also
worked as a mat statistician for the high school wrestling team. With this responsibility she has
not only worked for her school but she has also been selected to work the Reser Tournament of
Champions and the State Tournament, which are the two largest wrestling competitions in the
state of Oregon. Her coachability and honesty with her teammates and coaches has contributed
greatly to her success thus far in her athletic process. I feel those traits combined with her desire
to learn, improve, and take ownership have not only helped her as an athlete but as a student who
is excited to continue her education at the next level.

Sydney is a very focused individual and I can confidently say that she is a great example of what
it means to be a high school athlete and representative of her high school and community. I feel
that she will also be a student that you would feel proud to be able to say is a representative of
you and your organization as a scholarship recipient. Thank you for your time and please feel
