Non-Scientific Research

Erudition
Research (What we know about X?):
Its aim is compiling knowledge available in various sources. It is
useful to gathering information related to a topic. Scientific
Research is also based on available knowledge but it additionally
tries to build new original knowledge.

Normative
Theory (What ought to be X?):
Its goal is to explain how the reality ought to be. However,
Scientific Research should be done from an objective/positive
perspective.

Prescriptive
Theory (How to X?):
Its goal is knowing the most adequately methods to achieve a desired
situation. It links the Values with the Facts, and it can be
positive, normative, or both.

Evaluative
Theory (Has X the attributes Z?):
Its goal is evaluate a situation based on a set of concepts and
values. It links the Values with the Facts, and it can be positive,
