OPROIU ON THE LINEAR CONNEXIONS ON A MANIFOLD ADMITTING AN ALMOST COSYMPLECTIC STRUCTURE BY R. MIRON and V. OPROIU Let us consider on the (2n + 1)-dimeasional, C#-differentiable ma- nifold M an almost cosymplectic structure, defined by the quadratic differential form © and the Pfaffian form o, satisfying the condition: Oo #0, We have determined, [6,7], the general family of the almost cosym~ plectic and conformal cosymplectic connexions. In this short note we shall show that there exists a linear connexion defined on M so that the co- variant derivatives of the tensor fields associated with the forms {2 and , are two prescribed tensor fields satisfying only a condition of skew- symmetry. Let us denote by A the tensor field of type (0,2), defined by: AX, Y) = , where X,Y are two arbitrary vector fields. Let us consider two tensor fields Q.q of type (0,3), (0,2), respectively, satisfying the condition: Q(X, ¥, 2) =~ O(%,2,¥). There exists a linear connexion defined on M, so that the covariant deri- vatives of A and «, with respect to this connexion are Q and q. To prove this result we need some results on the algebraic properties of the tensor fields A and o, [6,7]. There exists a vector field B and a tensor field J of type (2,0), both defined on M, so that if X is an arbitrary vector’ field, then: Ro MIRON and V, OPROTT : 2 A(E, X) ~~ A(X, F) =0, (EZ) = 1, ) 2 Ax-A= X— 0(X)E, where dy is the 1-form defined by: (4x)(Y)=A(X,¥) and the opera- tions od, w.4 are given in local coordinates by the following formulae: (04)! = 0, Att, (o- Aim od%; 17-0, We shall determine the general family of the linear connexions sa- tisfying the conditions : (Vx A)(¥, Z) = O(X, ¥, Z), (Vxe)(¥) = 9(X, ¥), where by y we have denoted the covariant derivative, and we shall make some remarks on the connexions of this type on the manifolds admitting an almost symplectic or a Riemannian structure, Let V be an, initially given, connexion and let us suppose that the connexion V is defined by : (3) Vr¥ =Vx ¥ + P(X, ¥), where the tensor field P of type (1,2), must satisfy the following system obtained from the conditions (2) : A(P(X, ¥), Z) + AY, P(X, Z))= (Vx )(¥, Z) ~ O(X, Y,Z), (P(X, ¥)) = (Vro)(¥)—9(X, ¥). It can be casily verified that this system is equivalent to the follo- wing system: P(X, Y)— o( P(X, ¥))E— A, P, o( P(X, Y)) = (Vxe@)(¥)—9(X, ¥), Where Qay is the 1-form defined by the relation (Qy,)(Z) — OLX, ¥,Z), and Ps is the tensor field of type (1,1) defined by: (Py)(¥) = P(X. Y}. The system (5) is equivalent to the equation: ) PK) — Ay Pe (Vey A Oey LE (Fr0)(VIE—4(X, YE. (2) (a) = (Vxd)y-d— Oxy A, (5) Introducing the tensor fields ©, ,0, of type (2,2) defined by: v= (IeI+A+ 4, 1 2 i 2 fl 2 ([@o « E+} o@E@I—o®E®o®B), the equation (6) can be written as follows: BMP Cre dt 2 Wx0)(¥) EL Ox dL aX, VB, where the operation YP is given in local coordinates by: (CEP) = VEEP RS ij Ryle =O, Loney Qn Considering the products 'Y given in local coordinates by: (Ov) = OR PH, it is proved [6,7] that: O+V=1@1; O= os Oo; TraT— : , ®) OF = 90 =¥0 = VO = 00 =0¥ = 00= 59. Then the equation (8) is equivalent to the following equation: (K+ Oy Pe =) (VxA)rewone A + (Vx0)(¥)E— (10) 1 ‘ — 7 Ox, reoine-A—a(X, PIE. One verifies readily that ¥ + ©, ®— @ are projectors ive. ay LFV+O—O)=101; UFO +O =¥40; (6—0)(d—0)=o—0; (Y+O\—6) () —@)(¥ + 0)=0. The equation (10) has a solution if and only if the operator d—0, applied to the right hand side of this equation gives zero, ‘This condition can be verified by a straightforward calculation and then the general so- lution of the equation (10) is given by the formula: 122 “R MIRON and V. OPROIU 4 PUXY) =) (Wx) vvorre AE (12) : i . : + (Wyo) Y)E—4 Oy, rs uirye A—91X, YE + (6-9) Sy, where S is an arbitrary tensor field of type (1,2). Theorem 1. The general family of the connexions y, satisfying the conditions; (VxA)(Y, Z) = O(X,¥,Z); (vxo)(¥) = 9(X, ¥), where Qe 8(M), q€%(M) are given tensor fields with Q(X, Y,Z) = O(X,Z,Y), is given by the formula: Va¥=Va¥ +) (Crd) reaone d+ + (Vxo)(YE— 7 Ons yeatryerd — GX, Y)E+(O~ O)ySxy where ¥ is an arbitrary initial connexion and S is a tensor field of type (1,2). Particular cases: If Q= ¢=0, we obtain the almost cosymplectic con- nexions and if Q= A, g=p.» , we obtain the conformal almost co- simplectic connexons. Remark 1. If we consider an almost symplectic structure on the 2n- dimensional manifold M, then we can find always a connexion so that tae covariant derivative of the fundamental tensor field is a given tensor field O of type (0,3), satisfying the condition Q(X, Y,Z)—— OX, Z, Y). Remark 2. Considering a Riemannian structure on the manifo'd M, we obtain a connexion so that the covariant derivative of the fundamental tensor field is a given tensor field Q of type (0,3), satisfying the condi- tion O(X, ¥,Z) = O(X,Z, ¥). Remark 3. In the case of the almost horsymplectic structure consi- dered in [9], we can find a connexion y such that (VyA1(Y,Z)—Q(X, ¥,2), if and only if Q satisfies the following conditions : OLX, ¥,Z) = — Q(X, Z, ¥), Q(X, v¥,vZ) = 0, where is the projector on the vertical distribution of the given almost horsymplectie structure.
