Symphony No.1, Op.44 (Hol, Richard) was published and composed in year 1868.

The style of the pieces is Romantic style and it produced within the romantic period
which is know as Romanticism. Romanticism was an artistic, literary, musical and
intellectual movement that originated in Europe toward the end of the 18th century
and in most areas was at its peak in the approximate period from 1800 to 1850. The

As music grew more expressive, the standard orchestral palette just wasn't rich
enough for many Romantic composers. Woodwind instruments like the
contrabassoon, bass clarinet and piccolo made guest appearances in the orchestra
to add some much needed colour, and the percussion section exploded in size with
the addition of xylophones, drums, celestes, harps, bells, and triangles - when it
comes to the Romantic period, the bigger, the better. As show in the Symphony

song was dedicated to Collegium Musicum Ultrajectinum for their anniversary
celebration . the duration of the orchestra is 30- 35 minutes.

The harmony in this piece is the chords and progression, key, consonance and
dissonance. The chords also used an emphasizing skill that will give more harmony
effect on the song and also surprises (in a tutti), then become suspended and
finality. The texture of the piece is polyphonic, two and more independent melodies
sounding at the same time. There are also have an imitative texture. This orchestral
piece have so many dynamics that will played in all variations. The relative of
quietness and loudness of music fall under the general element of dynamics. The
loud and soft contains forte, fortissimo, crescendo, decrescendo, piano. An accents
is to punching the note harder (mostly in the intro) or leaning into a note to
emphasize it.
