In the past teachers used to be the major source of knowledge, the leader and educator of
their students' school life. They used to be the authority in the class and often took over
the role of parents. Nowadays, teachers provide information and show their students how
to tackle them. Although they are still considered to be a kind of leader in the class, they
can be thought of as facilitators in the learning process. They are supporters rather than
educators and also advisors towards parents. If we focus on the teaching process, we
realize that teachers in modern classrooms are no longer lecturers, they are facilitators,
their main task is to set goals and organize the learning process according to what
students need. They have independence to choose the teaching materials, design classes
on their own and teach their pupils so that they can perform well both at examinations and
in life.

be teachers of something else because of lack of prestige of English.

rewarding. However, the English language classroom also presents challenges that can
test our patience and ability to be effective. English teachers around the world face many
of the same difficulties. Our classes can be large, sometimes with over 40 students; we
often have multiple English proficiency levels in the same classroom, which makes
planning lessons and meeting all our students needs difficult. Some of us have limited
materials, or have to adapt or create our own. Providing opportunities for students to
practice the language can also be a challenge, especially if we have shy students or big
classes.
