WWII Magazine Project

WWII impacted America on virtually every level of life. From people to industry; technology to fashion; nothing
remained unaffected by the war.
Class will be divided into 7 groups. Each group will create a magazine informing the public how WWII affected/
influenced any aspect of their topic and/or what role their topic played during the war.

The 7 topics are:

People

Home front

Sports

Business

Battles, Events, Turning Points

Genocide, Atrocities, Disasters

Popular Culture

Individual work 75 points

One page (minimum) article about how WWII impacted any aspect of your topic and/or what role your
topic played during the war. For example, if your topic is 'Home Front' one article could be about
rationing during the war. Your article needs to be written using column format (see example).
An image to go with your article that represents your topic. The image goes on the same page as your
article.
A title for your article

One war time advertisement on a separate page. This could be a propaganda advertisement from the
government OR a advertisement by a private company from the 1940s. Make the image take up most of
the paper.

Group work 25 points

Cover page with company name AND image. Also, include group member names somewhere on cover.

Table of Contents page

Introduction page. Each person should write a paragraph explaining what readers can expect inside the
magazine. Give a broad overview (main ideas) of your specific article topic.
Group reflection on last page. Each person writes one paragraph explaining what they learned.
