. Abstract

This technical report will examine the design of Angat Dam, which is a main supplier of

water in the Manila Metropolitan Area. It will also show the sufficiency of the dam during

the years since 1967. It may show some comparison to the other dams in their design

and their different purposes. This will give the information on how well the design is

prepared for making the Angat Dam and how well it is maintained through the years.

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the process on making a stable and long

lasting dam to prevent crisis especially during the storm. The Angat Dam itself is an

example of quality built structure and properly planned to avoid having ecological impact

in the surroundings.

This technical report may give information on how to maintain the stability of the Dam as

time goes by, especially that there are many factors to be considered and the problem

that it may reach its total life span.

Executive Summary

Introduction

This research will generally discuss the purpose of a dam, the history of dams, the

different types and classification and their respective designs. A figure is presented to

clearly show the distinctions. It also focuses on Angat dam, its design, materials used,

and maintenance.

Location

The specified dam (Angat) is located in Barangay San Lorenzo, Norzagaray, Bulacan,

Philippines. This dam was chosen by the researchers because the dam if the main

source of water in Metro Manila.

Design, Material, Maintenance

Here, the researchers presented the design of the dam, the type of dam, the materials

used, and how to maintain the dam. A figure is presented to elaborate the structural

design of the dam.
