Partmodule

1 Creating the plate

To create the plate (the base feature), you create a three-dimensional, deformable, shell Planar part
and name it. You then sketch its profile (0.5 m 1.0 m).
1. StartAbaqus/CAE,andcreateanewmodeldatabase.
2. IntheModelTree,doubleclickthePartscontainertocreateanewpart.
3. NamethepartPlate.Changetothefollowingsettings:
Athreedimensional,deformablebody
Ashellplanarbasefeature
4. IntheApproximatesizetextfield,type2.Youwillbemodelingtheplateusingmetersfortheunitof
length,anditsoveralllengthis1meter;therefore,2metersisasufficientlylargeapproximatesize
forthepart.ClickContinuetocreatethepart.
5. FromtheSketchertoolbox,selecttherectangletool .
6. Sketchanarbitraryrectangle,andclickmousebutton2intheviewporttoexittherectangletool.
7. Dimensionthelowerandleftedgessothatitis1mlongand0.5mhigh.
8. Clickmousebutton2toexittheSketcher.

PropertyModule
1. CreateMaterialandnameit,forexample:Aluminum.
Mechanical,Elastic,Youngsmodulus=70GPa,Poissonsratio=0.25.
General,Density=2500kg/m3.
2. CreateSectionandnameit,forexample:Aluminum_section,
Choose:Homogeneous,ShellSection,Thickness=3mm.
3. AssignSection,Assignsectiontoplate.

1. Firstcreateasteptodeterminetheeigenfrequenciesandtheeigenmodes.

1. CreateBoundaryCondition,Symmetry/Antisymmetry/Encastre,
Selectleftboundaryline.
