Perspective Writing: Minor Characters Perspective

DIRECTIONS: You are going to write a scene from the book from the perspective of a minor
character. This character should have a few to no speaking parts in the book and may only be
referenced in the book. You must create a scene from this characters perspective that includes
dialogue (try to use both dialogue with another character and internal dialogue), this characters
thoughts, and feelings. You must stay true to the context of this book, by keeping the general
setting and storyline the same, but you have creative freedom to create the specific scene for
this writing piece. Your written scene should be about to of a page in length.

Possible Characters: Anyone in Salvas or Nyas family, one of the workers building the well, a
volunteer in the refugee camp, Buksa, a boy in Salvas group that walks to the refugee camp in
Kenya, a Nuer tribe man who killed Uncle, Michael, etc.

My name is Geda and I working on an project to bring water to the a village in South
Sudan.
My boss came to me and Explained that he wanted to build a well in a Nuer village.
of course,I said yes.
I went to work at the village with other men and we walked back and forth from the pond to
gather water for the drilling so the ground would be softer.
The bags keep braking this is ridiculous why cant we just use better bags.
I have done many of jobs on the project from drilling to getting supplies. One day I was drilling
and a explosion of dirty icky water fled from the hole and got me and another worker wet we
laugh for a while but are boss keep us work because we had to dig deeper to get fresh water.
The we started working on the cement bart of the well so that the well could have the pipes in it.
I have been here for a mouth and we are still working on the project. I have finished after
one more mouth I am happy that I have brought water to the people in this village.
