Bijli Mahadev Temple

Located in the Kullu Valley at a height of 2,460m, the temple has a Shiva Lingam. There is a trek of 3
km to reach the temple offering breathtaking views. Once there, one can see panoramic view of the
Kullu and Parvati valley. There is a 60 feet high staff on the temple that attracts lightning and
shatters the Shiva lingam to pieces. The priest restores the Shiva lingam using butter and sattoo. This
temple is one of the top places to visit in Kullu.

Raghunath Temple is the prime attraction in Kullu. Raja Jagat Singh, the king of Kullu, obtained the
famous idol of Lord Rama in his chariot from Ayodhya and built the temple in the 17th century. The
majestic temple has a mixed look of Pahari and Pyramidal style. The temple is located on a hillock
and gives a magnificent view of the valley. The Lord is believed to be the safe guarder of the entire
valley. Being one of sacred sites for the Hindus visiting the state of Himachal Pradesh, many religious
activities take place in this temple. Every year the festival of Dusshera brings crowds of tourists and
pilgrims to this temple.

Sultanpur palace

At a distance of 0.5 km from Kullu bus stand is located the magnificent palace of Sultanpur. It was
formerly known as Rupi Palace. The palace was reconstructed near the old palace after it got
destroyed by a massive earthquake in 1905. It is popular for its architecture, which is a blend of
Pahari and colonial architectural style. The entry to the palace is made of heavy wooden logs. The
Palace houses some beautiful miniature paintings depicting the simple rural backgrounds of the local
people of Kullu & Manali. The Sultanpur palace is the residence of the erstwhile ruling family, whose
permission has to be taken for entry to the palace.

Basheshwar Mahadev Temple

Basheshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is 15kms away from Kullu in a village called Bajura
on the River Beas. It houses a huge Yoni-Lingam idol that represents Lord Shiva and his wife
Goddess Parvati. The temple is popular for its flat Shikhara, ornate stone carvings and sculpted
figures which adorn the inner and outer walls of the premises.

Hidimba Devi Temple

Located at the foot of Himalyas in a village in Manali, Hidimba Devi Temple is an ancient temple
dedicated to Hidimba Devi, wife of Bhima, one of the five Pandavas. Hidimba was a rakshas and is
said to have meditated here to eventually attain the status of a Goddess. About 70 meters from the
temple is the shrine of Ghatotkach who was Hidimba and Bhimaa son. Newly married couples visit
this temple to seek blessings of Hidimba Devi. There is a fair held every month on the birthday of
Hidimba Devi.

At a distance of around 4 km from the Manali bus stand, a small village called Vashisht is situated on
the banks of river Beas. Dedicated to the local deity and sage by the same name, Saint Vashisht, the
Vashist Temple is beautiful with wooden carvings and traditional interiors ornamented with antique
paintings and figures.

The hot water springs are a major attraction of this region. These are sulphur springs which spout
hot water all year long and are said to have medicinal properties. The springs can also be enjoyed in
