Brandon School District: There are no ceilings for our students
The Brandon School District has
made it a priority to plan for the future
even as it continues to develop existing
programs to meet the needs of its cur-
rent students.
To that end, the Brandon 2025 com-
mittee has continued to steer the dis-
trict to goals that will benefit students in
all grades.
We know it looks like 2025 is a long
way away, said Superintendent Dr.
Matt Outlaw, but in todays world
things change so fast we need to be pre-
pared. Looking ahead allows us to do
that.
One of the Brandon 2025 goals is for
Brandon students to be in the top 25
percent in student achievement in Michi-
gan. In recently released Top to Bot-
tom rankings of high schools issued by
the Michigan Department of Education,
Brandon High School was ranked in the
77th percentile, putting it in the top 23
percent of Michigan high schools.

Extracurricular activities continue to
flourish, as the varsity football team con-
cluded an 8-1 season by hosting a home
playoff game. The boys and girls soc-
cer teams have recently won MHSAA
District crowns. Our winter sports pro-
grams continue to succeed in and out of
conference, and a number of
Blackhawk athletes have signed to con-
tinue their careers at the collegiate level.
Brandon 2025 also recognizes that a
healthy district away from the classroom
can improve outcomes within it. With
three straight years of a balanced bud-
get, the district has taken steps to con-
solidate its schools to provide both a more
efficient education delivery for students
and tremendous cost savings to allow
future programs to be even stronger.
Our students and families have em-
braced the opportunities we are provid-
ing our students, and we expect the posi-
tives to continue, said Dr. Outlaw.
While we are proud of the improve-
ments we have made, we know there
are no ceilings for our Brandon students.
