In some books authors use their writings to change the mindset of the

readers in some way or change the way people interact with each other. In

Michael Crichtons book Jurassic Park he uses the characters to change the

mindset of the readers and to change the way people interact with each

other. He uses the characters to show how society does not take the opinion

of less educated people and they shouldnt care where the opinion came

from, then how women with a higher status can be taken in an odd way and

that it shouldnt be taken weird just as a normal thing in todays society.

In todays society people with no degree or a lesser degree arent

listened to as much because of a person with the higher degree. Michael

Crichton shows this by having a lab assistants opinion being rejected

because there is a person with a higher degree working the same thing. Its

not a dinosaur, its a lizard. And whether it is, it can wait until Dr. Simpson

gets back from Borneo to identify it. (pg. 28) Crichton uses this scientist,

when saying this, to show that people do not car for an average persons

opinion compared to the opinion of a person with a doctorate degree. In

todays society not many people speak out to people with a higher status in

society because they know that whatever they say will be rejected in

everyones minds. This is because society has shown that when a person
with a high status says something it is correct and when someone with a

lower status says another thing it in wrong no matter what.

There is also, in todays society, that when there is a woman with a

higher status some take it as strange. Gennaro, Crichtons character, is used

to show that women with high statuses is not seen as much and when seen

is strange to the eyes of others. When Ellie shook hands, Gennaro said in

surprise, Youre a woman. (pg. 63) He takes Gennaro being surprised that

Ellie is a woman to show that women with higher statuses might be taken as

strange in the eyes of some higher status people in society. Crichton wants

to change the mind set of society today to the opposite because though

there might be fewer women with higher degrees in todays society there still

are some, and it should not be strange to us because men and women have

the same ability to get that degree whether they choose to go for it or not.

Men and women can both be smart in todays society they both just have to

work at what they like and get the education they need for it.

Michael Crichton in the book Jurassic Park uses his characters to try

and change the mindset of people in todays society, or to change the way

people interact with each other in todays society. He uses a lab assistant

giving her opinion to the higher up and them refusing to listen to it to show

that people with lower society ranks are thoughtless of when in comparison

to the highly thought of people in todays society. Crichton shows that

women with high statuses in society isnt seen as much and is taken as
strange by some in society and that they shouldnt be taken strangely, but

as a more normal thing in todays society.
