How were crosswalks invented?

Today, while almost being hit by a car, I admired the beauty of crosswalks. Eleven or
twelve white lines, on dirty asphalt, and we all know what to do when we see them.
Well, not all of us (drivers).

Then, I remembered a story Ive read somewhere. How were they invented.
Actually, they were invented long before cars were.

Actually, it is a natural phenomenon, copied by a man. But isnt man = nature? OH


STOP IT!

In rainforests of South America, theres a river called Orinoco. In a year somewhere


before birth of Christ, wildlife in this rainforest, which we will call Ralph, would
cooperate in daily tasks. (fishes working for the animals to cross the river).
