Activity: My Name is and I Like to. (with action)
Source: University of Illinois Extension Youth Development Team Members. (2004, November)
Equipment Needed: None

Activity Description:
1. Have participants all stand in a circle facing each other
2. The first person going will say their name followed by acting out what they like to do
3. The second person then repeats the first persons name and acts out their action, then
states their own name followed by an action of what they like to do
4. This continues around the circle until everyone in the group has gone

Leadership Considerations:
1. When working with a child with autism, it may be hard for them to stay on task and
remember what each person before them has stated. Limiting the group size to groups of
3 or 4, and gradually adding more people as weeks pass would be a good way to adapt
this activity.
2. For an individual with a mobile impairment such as spina bifida it may be hard for the
individual to act out the action that they like to do. One way to adapt this activity for that
individual would be to allow them to describe the activity rather than acting it out. This
can be through describing the activity, or by giving clues for the rest of the group to guess
the activity. For example if the activity is bowling, they can say it has a ball and 10 pins
and the group would be able to guess bowling.
