The courses listed below are classes I have gained valuable teaching experience in as a graduate

assistant at Cleveland State University.

Fall 2015:
Family Communication (COM 380): This course investigates communication in the family
group, with emphasis on functional and dysfunctional ways in which family members relate to
one another.
Experience: Grading weekly online discussion board posts on the Blackboard platform.

Spring 2016:
Principles of Social Media (COM 227): This online course introduced the history, theories, and
ethics of social media.
Experience: Grading weekly online discussion board posts, as well as two student papers (a
midterm ethics paper, and final social media campaign critique paper).

Fall 2016:
1. Mass Media and Society (COM 226): This course examines basic theoretical concepts and
models underpinning the study of mass communication, including processes of message
construction in media organizations, content patterns, audience message processing, media
effects, media systems, and relationships with other systems.
Experience: Grading weekly online discussion board posts as well as one content analysis paper.

2. Professional Communication (COM 240): A writing across the curriculum course (all majors
may take this course). This course is designed to expose students to the theories, skills, and
strategies needed to become effective communicators in business and professional settings.
Experience: Lecturing experience in the classroom, as well as grading two student papers (a
mid-term professional analysis, and final team presentation reflection paper).

Spring 2017:
1. Communication Inquiry (COM 303): This course focuses on understanding methods of
inquiry in communication, including quantitative and qualitative methods for gathering and
analyzing data, and critiquing and interpreting research. It also covers theory, design, and basic
statistics involved in survey and experimental research.
Experience: Grading students and providing feedback on a viable research project using social
science research methodology.

2. Professional Communication (COM 240): A writing across the curriculum course (all majors
may take this course). This course is designed to expose students to the theories, skills, and
strategies needed to become effective communicators in business and professional settings.
Experience: Lecturing experience in the classroom, as well as grading two student papers (a
mid-term professional analysis, and final team presentation reflection paper).
