Analysis of Experiences as an Intern

My assignments today started at 7:30am where I had to do a meal observation for

one of the adult day homes. At the homes they have a checklist of items I have to

look for that staff are doing e.g. Are they using the correct adaptive equipment for

the clients, is the right meal being served? Any client refusals or behaviors observed

and if any how did the staff handle it? Later on, I attended a fluid intake meeting for

one of the residents. They mainly looked at the chart intake for the resident and

came up with ideas on how to better collect data for the individuals in order to be

able to track how much fluid intake the resident was taking in.

Strengths and Needs related to the Performance of Duties of a Human

Services Administrator

According to Kiser, good leadership is one of the duties of being a human services

administrator. Every organization needs a professional who is able to initiate a

group, convene in meetings and provide leadership in the group (Kiser, 2015). A

good leader is able to get things done and at the same time makes sure theres

mutual support among the team members. In addition, he makes sure theres good

communication among members of the group and if there any members who need

feedback on how to better communicate.

Clearly Articulated Self Improvement Plan

I have come to learn how-to provide support to those who are interested in focusing

more on group skills. I also need to be able to interact well in group discussions and

weigh in on the decisions being made. Learning how to listen first and not interrupt

the speaker is one of the communications skills I need to improve on.
