imdiki Zaman (Present Continuous Tense)

imdiki zaman (present continuous tense) used:

a. For an action happening now

a. Ben parkta kouyorum.
b. Aye yemek yiyor.
b. For an action happening about this time but not necessarily at the moment of speaking
a. Noof Trke reniyor.
b. Tayfun, ODTde alyor.
c. For a definite arrangement in the future; the time of the action is always mentioned, as
otherwise there might be confusion between present and future meaning
a. Yarn hastaneye gidiyorum.
b. Bu sene mezun oluyorum.
d. To indicate an established state of affairs
a. Sabahlar erken kalkyorum.
b. Akam yemeini 7de yiyorlar.

The imdiki zaman' of the verb is formed by adding the tense suffix -Iyor' (-yor, -iyor, -yor, -uyor)
to the verb base:

ver-iyor, al-yor, gel-iyor, otur-uyor, gtr-yor

If the base ends with a vowel remove it before adding the tense suffix; in affirmative verb (including
interrogative verb), the wovel at the end drops, because the tense suffix -iyor' starts with a wovel:

bekle bekl bekl-iyor ye y y-iyor

yr yr yr-yor de d d-iyor

The following verbs ending in the hard consonant t' changes to its respective soft consonant d' before
the tense suffix -iyor' is added:

git gidiyor et ediyor

Note that this rule doesn't apply to all verbs ending in a hard consonant t'.

yat yatyor kapat kapatyor

For the negative form of imdiki zaman, just add -m before the tense suffix

Remove the final vowel and add tense suffix -Iyor:

Gel>Gelm>Gelm+iyor / Yr> Yrm>Yrm+yor / Ko>Kom>Kom+uyor

To ask a question with imdiki zaman, first made a complete positive or negative imdiki zaman verb,
and add question suffix and personal ending at the end:

Only for onlar, personal ending comes before question suffix:

Geliyor> Geliyorlar m? / Sevmiyor>Sevmiyorlar m?
