Whats the purpose of the product?
The purpose of making this product is to entertain the audience which is a success
as the directors have used well known celebrities and a lot of them, this helps to get
more views on the film because if the audience likes certain actors they will want to
watch it. The film was a box office success, it recorded a worldwide opening of $267.1 million
from 59 countries and IMAX global debut of $18.2 million, both set new records for the month of August.
Codes and conventions
I know this film is a comic book film because its all about different superheros and villains but put together to
go against a brand new villain that had been created for this certain film. Its also a comic book film because
before films were made these heros and villains where in comic books. The similarities that this film has with
other films in the same genre are films like superman, ironman, deadpool, etc. this is because all these films
end up with the same wrap like something bad happens then the hero saves the day.
What audience is this film intended for?
This film will also be for demographics, for people of any gender, occupation, Race, age except people below the age of 15 as its rated a
15, religion, class, employment status, disability, etc. the film is again intended for Socio- economic Groupings in the groups C2 to E, this is
because younger age groups will want to see the film as its a comic book film so its mainly for younger people that are students, manual
workers and skilled manual workers, so altogether it will be in the lower groupings of the socio- Economic groups. The film would again be
intended for Psychographics, for example survivors who have the lowest incomes, so that will be younger age groups like children-
teenagers, makers and experiencers who are people up to the age of 25 years old.
Whats the genre, form and style of the film?
Genre of the suicide Squad film is action film, superhero movie, adventure film, science fiction film and fantasy. The style of the film is very
fast, everything happens quickly. Its different to other superhero films because its more colourful and theres a lot more going on as they
use a range of different actors which are villains and put them together to make the film more interesting and show how if all villains are put
together they can become superheros. They also use a lot of modern music in the film compared to other superhero films but they still
include old songs but not as much.
Production Process:
Filming began on April 13, 2015. On April 26 and 27, filming was to take place at the Hy's Steakhouse. A "snowstorm" scene was filmed on
April 29 on the Adelaide St. and in Ching Lane. On May 5, a few major scenes were filmed in downtown Toronto next to Yonge and Dundas
Square. Principal photography wrapped in August 2015 after additional filming took place in Chicago, Illinois. Additional filming ensued in
2016 following Warner's desire to make a more lighthearted and comedic tone akin to the trailers, especially as Batman v. Superman:
Dawn of Justice was criticized for being too somber. It was also confirmed that Zack Snyder filmed the Flash scene. Ayer confirmed that the
film was completed on June 24, 2016. Despite the involvement of multiple editors in the process, only John Gilroy is credited. It was later
revealed that many of Jared Leto's scenes were omitted from the final cut. An interview with Leto revealed that he was upset over the
removal of his work. The film crew are David Ayer (Director), Steven Price (Music), Zack Snyder and Steven Mnuchin (Executive
Producers), Charles Roven and Richard Sucke (Producers), Roman Vasyanov (Cinematography), John Gilroy (Editor), Kate Hawley
(Costume Decider) and all of the decorators for each scene.
Tina Charad, a movie graphic designer and illustrator, shared some work she did for Suicide Squad early on in the pre-production phase. The
concept of tattoos for The Joker and Harley Quinn were there from the beginning, but they looked very different at one point. For example, we get
to see Jared Leto in an early costume test without Damaged tattooed across his forehead. Instead, he has tattoos where his eyebrows should
be. Harley Quinn had a completely different set of tattoos as well. And we get to see a bunch of outfits for The Joker that didnt make the final cut.
