Greek Mathematic History
450 BCE - Greeks developed the numeral system known as Attic or Herodianic
numerals.
440 BCE - Hippocrates of Chios wrote an influential book The Elements which was
the first
compilation of the elements of geometry, and his work was an important
source for Euclids later work.
387 BCE - Plato establishes his Academy in Athens. Plato was influenced by
Pythagoras who in turn influenced Aristotle, his protege. Aristotles theories
on logic was regarded as being highly accurate for at least two thousand
years after his death, if not longer.
