Graphic product 1 Book Cover

I was asked to produce a book cover for The secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged
13 by the Penguin Books. Sue Townsend wrote the book. The purpose of the
task was to encourage people to buy and read the book. The audience of the
book are children aged 9-13. We were required to use a template, which included
the logo and barcode. We were also required to include an image as well as
include the title and authors name on the front and spine and include the already
prepared blurb on the back of the book. The software we used was Photoshop,
which is Bitmap software. I used Photoshop because it is easy to use and allows
me to edit many different photos and merge them into one. I found the template
for the book cover on the Penguin book awards website. I feel that my design
meets the criteria that were asked of it and it is appropriate for the target
audience.

identifiable on
shelves.

Product
I sought feedback on the product and was told:
Positives the cover very clearly displays the name and author of the book
Negatives its not a very exciting / colourful design so not sure it would make
children want to pick it up and read it.
On the base of this feedback, I would update my design to include brighter
colours to make it more eye-catching to the target audience.

I feel the product is suitable because it includes everything that was asked of it.
For example, it includes the title of the book, as well as the blurb. It is also
suitable because my design fits into the border of the added template. It also has
an interesting design that is suitable for the target audience, incorporating
abstract shapes into the background to fascinate the audience.

Graphic product 2 Halloween Stencil Packaging

I have been asked by The Party Company to design and create a packaging for a
new range of Halloween themed pumpkin stencils. In my design brief, I was
asked to include The Party Companies Logo, The words Peel and Stick, the
price and the product details. My design also had to be themed around
Halloween. My two designs ended up being themed around Halloween and both
included the essential features I was asked for. My first design was based around
the shape of a pumpkin having the stencils stored inside of it. I feel that my
design is acceptable because it is practicle and eye-catching.

This a view from when I my was creating my design in Illustrator. I attempted to

make my design 3-D however I was asked to add the details to the front of the
packaging in a 2D design. The final design includes the instructions, Peel and
stick as well as the company name, The Party Company, and product
description, Halloween stencils. In the final design, I changed the mouth of the
pumpkin as to seem more child friendly. Overall I feel that my design is to an
acceptable and to a good standard

Product feedback
I sought feedback on the product and was told:
Positives very clearly a Halloween image very eye catching
Negatives not clear from the packaging whether this contains 1 or 100 stencils
for the price
Because I think that adding the price per stencil will help the product to sell
because it is a lot clearer, I would edit my design to make clear how many
stencils there are in the box and how much each stencil costs.

I feel my design is appropriate for the target audience because it is associated

with Halloween. It is also eye-catching because of its use of bright colours and
looks similar to a pumpkin. It is also suitable because it gives clear details about

the product such as the name of the company the product was made by as well
as the words peel and stick.
