To Whom It May Concern:

I will be graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hills Master of Education
in School Counseling program this summer. I believe my experience and passion for helping
students achieve their academic, personal/social and career goals make me fit for your school.

Through my education at UNC, I was given the opportunity to complete my internship at

Shepard IB Magnet Middle School in Durham. At Shepard, I have gained valuable experience
working with underserved and under resourced students. At the beginning of the school year, I
conducted the annual needs survey for Shepard Middle School. As a result of this survey, I was
able to organize and run small groups and classroom guidance lessons according to my schools
specific needs. On a daily basis, I greet students as they arrive to school, facilitate mediations
and meetings with students, parents and teachers, conduct small groups, and provide crisis
interventions as needed. I also lead classroom guidance lessons regarding bullying, transitioning
to middle school and preparation for high school. Additionally, I am a part of the 504 team and
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support team where I help to ensure that academic interventions are in
place for students to achieve success. Lastly, during my internship, I was given the opportunity
to attend many professional developments including Ally Training for the LGBTQIA community
and Capturing Kids Hearts.

Through my professional experiences, I have seen that students can achieve anything they set
their minds to if they have the right tools and opportunities. One of the best tools that I believe a
student can have is that of a great relationship with teachers, counselors or administrators who
will pour into them and help them grow as an individual. I believe that I can help your students
by contributing what I have learned from my classes and the American School Counselor
Association.

I am motivated to make a difference in the lives of the students with whom I have the pleasure of
working. I would appreciate the opportunity to personally meet with you to discuss my
qualifications. Please feel free to contact me anytime. Thank you for your time and
consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
