I am excited to discuss the job opportunity. I am passionate about working with kids and their families. As you will see in my resume, I have extensive experience working with adults and children with developmental disabilities in many different areas. I have worked with a wide range of abilities and believe in a strength based approach. My role as a Behavioral Therapist has strengthened my skills to assessing, demonstrating, modeling and teaching coping, self-regulation, and independent skills. I have extensive case management experience, demonstrating leadership, initiative, prioritizing and independent working skills. In my role as PDD Coordinator, I was responsible for all agency intake and worked closely with individuals and families in goal setting and funding allocation. Furthermore, as a member of the Community Disability and Rehabilitation degree program at the University of Calgary, extending skill development includes being highly motivated, utilizing strong time management, critical analysis, and collaborative partnering. Most recently, during my practicum I had the opportunity to extend my researching skills and I initiated relationships and rapport building with internal and external partners. I have had the privilege of being a private guardian of a dependent adult for many years, which has allowed me to have a unique perspective when working with families. Among so many understandings she has given me, my role as guardian has also increased my knowledge in collaborating with the Aboriginal community. I am looking forward to discussing my experience more.
