Brief Description of Learning Experience:
The classroom blog is used to show where the students are in class and what unit they are participating
in. Blogs help not only the students, but also allow the parents to feel connected with their childs time
spent in physical education. Materials will be posted throughout the completion of each unit listing the
skills that the students are working on and how they relate to both the state and national standards. With all
of these materials posted, students may go back and review past material or dive into further information if
they so wish too.
Additional resources will be posted up on the blog allowing students to discover more facts about the
unit we go through as the year goes on. They may find a game that they like such as handball; and want to
research some more about it. Guided learning helps many students discover new interests and keeps the
excitement there for each unit. Blogs are a great classroom tool and more students should get involved with
them.

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): Students who use this class blog
would be experiencing a LoTi Level 3. Students are using technology and may be asked to think at higher
levels of Blooms Taxonomy. The blog is also student centered; everything on the blog should be for them,
about them, and how to help them.
Importance of technology: A classroom blog has a great amount of importance. Blogs allow the teacher
to give the students and parents an overview of what is being covered in class and what will be coming up
next. Parents can also easily contact teachers through their classroom blog to find out more about their
student and what exactly their doing in class. Students can also go to the class blog to look over other
materials about the subject covered in class and find additional resources.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: While class blogs are a great resource, safety measures do need to
be taken for the protection of your students. The teacher should never post any of the students material
without parental permission. If permission is granted, make sure that there is none of the students personal
information out on the web. This includes information such as last names, address, email address, phone
number, etc. Also, make sure you make it possible to sensor any comments or messages others may try to
post on your blog. This is best to ensure that your class blog stays professional and no inappropriate
material winds up on the web.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My personal goal for this class blog is to keep
students up to date and allow them to dig deeper into the content on their own time. Additional resources
for each unit will be posted so students may do some of their own research into the topic. I think its very
important that students have the resources to discover new things on their own and my blog can be a
resource for these students to accomplish that. Blogs are just a great tool to keep students up to date and
allows parents to step into the class as well throughout the year.
Other comments about your proposed activity: Blogs are excellent resources for students, parents, and
faculty.
