pile shown in fig. the water table is at 3m deep.

2. . Determine the safe load carrying capacity of 40 cm diameter of driven concrete

pile shown in fig. the water table is at 3m deep. And the middle layer is soft clay.

3. In the initial (vertical compressive ) load test conducted on a single pile of

600mm diameter the following observations were made

Load(kN) 100 200 300 400 500 600 700

Settlement 6 15 21 27 33 39 51
(mm)
Estimate the safe load.

4. A 300mm2 timber pile is driven 5m below the ground level in preloaded clay.
The load is applied at1m above the ground level. Moment of resistance of pile is
120kNm. E=10X105 kN/m2 . Undrained cohesion is 120kpa. Estimate the ultimate
lateral load and corresponding deflection.

5. A 500 mm2 timber pile is driven 6m below the ground level in preloaded clay.
The load is applied at1m above the ground level and it is 56kN. E=10X105 kN/m2 .
Undrained cohesion is 120kpa. Estimate the moment of resistance and
corresponding deflection.
