Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: The 3rd grade standard for student to investigate the habitats
of different organism and the depended of organism on their habitat is required by the state.
This online project site allows for my students to learn about everything that is required in the
standard. Students can do so by become scientist and tracking and gathering information on
animals. There are many different types of animals that migrate and live in Georgia that the
students will are able to choose from to gather date to publish on the site.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? At least computers and a projector. If able I would also like to use notepads and data
recording devices in the field.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of
them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high
LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school:
Students will post on the Journey North site under supervision where there are
peers looking and analyzing their word.

b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or

producing original products as a result of engaging in the project):
All students will be engaged in original work and data that is picked up from their
research and findings.

c. Higher-order thinking:
Students will be using high levels of LoTi and Blooms in order to achieve the
required informational results.

d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product:
Students will publish their monitored work on Journey North and the classroom
blog.

What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and Why?
This lesson is high level LoTi 5.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your
districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? I will first follow required school
regulations by informing both the administration and parents while showing them how it is used
safely. Everything have teacher moderation, do not allow anonymous commutation, use
anonymity when students are not allowed to be seen, background checks on anyone who is
brought into the student activities, moderate all recordings, use first names with initials or
pseudonyms, password protect and educate your students and parents about online safety.
