In a regular Isabela Provincial Cooperatives Development Council (IPCDC) meeting last April 11, 2017 at
the Provincial Cooperatives Development Office Function Hall, a collective decision of the cooperative
sector to support the national SIMULTANEOUS SHOW OF FORCE (SSF) on April 29, 2017, 9am at
Echague Gymnasium, Echague, Isabela will be held.
More than 20,000 cooperative members in Region 02 are expected to attend the advocacy assembly to
oppose the repeal of cooperative tax exemptions.
Removing tax exemptions of cooperatives will deprive poor people, who are members of the
cooperatives. The move of Rep. Eric D. Singson (HB231), Rep. Dakila Carlo E. Cua (HB 4774) and Sen.
Franklin M. Drilon (SB 229) will directly kill the cooperatives in the country. The cooperatives are the
silent prime movers of the countrys economy and the peoples main structure for direct poverty
eradication.
As a prelude to the show of force, a motorcade from southern part, led by Nueva Viscaya
cooperatives and northern part led by Cagayan Province cooperatives will be undertaken towards
Echague Gymnasium to show to the general public of our strong opposition and disappointment on the
proposed bills.
Along this line, may we request your full cooperation to this MUST ATTEND simultaneous show of
force by bringing not less than 50 members per cooperative.
