The numbers above indicate the amount of times a player received a

concussion per 100,000 exposures. Exposure in this case is defined as when an

athlete is participating in their respected athletic field, practice or competition. This

data shows the likeliness of a player receiving a concussion at the high school level.

Collision sports such as football and ice hockey had the highest amount of

concussions, which could be expected. The data shows the overwhelming number of

concussions for football players. The data also shows that those two sports alone

account for nearly 1/3 of all concussions throughout high school sports. With this,
the conclusion can be drawn that sports with body to body contact have a higher

chance of receiving concussions than other sports.
