CURSES OR/AND BLESSING OF TITHE

Paying of Tithe is never an option but a commandment from God to all. Your tithe
belongs to God according to the scripture we just read in Leviticus 27:30. It is true that you
worked for the money but bear in mind today that God is demanding that you should give His
portion of the blessing which is the Tithe.

If you look at the whole story God is not even demanding too much from you He just said
that you should give one of the Tenth and lives on with the rest of the money or proceeds. So if
you have not been paying your tithes start today to do so.

During the time that Abraham paid Tithe, the law had not been given. So those who said
Tithes are for the Old Testament should note that Abraham paid Tithe before the giving of the
law to Moses in Leviticus.

In the Old Testament, God even commanded them that if their farm is too far away from
where they will bring their tithe to, they should sell all the products so as to turn it into money
and by so doing, it will bring forth convenience for them. Thus Deut 14:24-25 says " And if the
way is too long for you, so that you are not able to bring the tithe, when the Lord your God bless
you, because the place is too far from you, which the Lord your God chooses to set His name
there, then you shall turn it into money in your hand, and go to the place which the Lord your
God choose."

From Old Testament, Abraham the blessed man of God was the first person to pay his
tithe when he was returning from the defeat of Chedorolaomer and the kings who were with him
and he was blessed Gen 14:13-20. Thus, Heb 7:1 says " For this Melchizedek who is the king of
Salem (peace), Priest of the most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the
kings and blessed him." Abraham was blessed because of the fact that he paid the tithe of what
God had given to him.

Looking into the book of Malachi 3:10, God made it a must for them (Israelites) to bring
their entire full tithe and not a part of it into the house of God. But does he really mean it or
joking with it? No, God never jokes with His words and because of this, God pronounced curses
upon all the people who failed to pay their tithe for the fact that they are robbing the Almighty

God. Whatever they lay their hands on will never prosper, and God will continue to be their
enemy. Malachi 3:8-9.

But whoever diligently hearkens and obeys this commands will continuously be a blessed
person, for God will always be on his support and whatever he lays his hands upon shall prosper.
He will neither be in suffering nor in need, for God will always provide for all his needs, Philip
4:19. Thus, Mal 3:11-12 says; "I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the
fruit of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear says the Lord of Hosts. Then all
nations will call you blessed, for you will be a king of delight, says the Lord of hosts."

How Tithes should be paid.

A. When paying of Tithes ensures that you pay the complete Tithe. Don't be like those who pay
their Tithes after they must have removed their expenses for the month, then the remaining
money they remove one tenth and pay their Tithe. That is not Tithe. Doing so is not paying of
Tithe but you have just given an offering. Offering has no conditions attached to it like Tithe. In
offering you pay any amount you choose to pay. But in Tithe it is the one tenth of your profit or
salary. And you must remove your Tithe first before spending the money for your needs.

The consequences of Not Paying Tithes.

At this point we shall be looking at the consequences of not paying Tithes. What we mean is the
punishment that comes for not paying Tithes.

A. The first consequence is that you are a Thief in the sight of God. In the book of Malachi
3:8-9. Have you seen it in the two verses just quoted in the book of Malachi? It says that those
who are not paying their Tithes are spiritual Robbers. It means that you are not different from
physical thieves that our Government is looking for a way to eliminate out our country. In that
case God is also not happy with you.

B. The second consequence: You are cursed by God.

v 9: ''Ye are cursed with a curse, '' When a man is under a curse he cannot know any blessing in
his life. He will be struggling when others are succeeding. Poverty will be written all over his
life. To such a person his problem is not capital or lack of job opportunity. Even if you find him

the best job or give him millions of Naira to start a business because he is under a curse he
cannot prosper. So the alternative is to start paying your tithe so that you will be ushered to the
next and final point in the lesson which is:

The bag: not enough.

You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe
yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with
holes. Hag 1:6

The Blessings of Paying of Tithe

The Basket: More than Enough.

4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of
your livestock. 5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. 6 You will be blessed
when you come in and blessed when you go out. Deut 28:4-6

The Barn: Infinitely More than Enough.

28 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to... Deut
28:8

The windows of Heaven will be opened to you.

v10: ''Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove
me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and
pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.'' (KJV)

How much can God bless you with?

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is
dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been
trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? Luke 16:10-11

Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will
be filled to overflowing Proverbs 3:9-10

3
And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.
17 He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.' 18 "Then he said,
'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my
grain and my goods. 19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many
years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." Luke 12:16-19

"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you.
Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' 21 "This is how it will be with anyone
who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God." Luke 12:20-21

CONCLUSION

Never you abstain yourself from paying your tithe for it's like a bile which when it bursts
and mixes with other parts of the meat, the whole meat shall lose its sweet taste and get wasted.
In a nutshell, it is a MUST for you to pay your tithe, for when you do so, you will remain blessed
of God
