I have recently joined the NAMI club and it has made me think again of people who suffer from them. I am interested in this topic because I have a cousin with schizophrenia and I have seen how it has affected him and others around him. I hope to learn how to help others in case of a situation where their mental illness has taken over and hope to learn more about the topic in general The thesis for my paper will include the importance of mental health awareness and why it should be incorporated in high school education. The sources I will use will include books, websites, and articles that will explain why awareness is important. will be attending workshops, trainings, and seminars hosted by the NAMI club, Dr. Coats, and Ms. Graf in various places such as Kaiser. Through these events I will lear more about mental health awareness as well as actually bringing awareness to others. Through this I will have a hands on experience on how awareness can make a difference. My understanding of plagiarism is to write down somebody else’s ideas or findings and not give them proper credit.
