‘Welcome to a new session of study at Charles Sturt University. This subject outline is accessible

‘This subject explores a range of approaches to Design and Technology education in years 7-12. It
‘demtties the position of design and technology in the schoo! curticulum and explores design and the
design process as concepts and their role in teaching and learning. I assists students construct Design
and Technology technology-specific lessons and program units of study that are challenging,
‘engaging, and supportive of student learning. Students will be introduced to practical student-centred
learning in Design and Technology education.
Particular attention will be devoted to the implementation of relevant technology syllabi, authentic
pedagogies and assessment for learning in the context of secondary technology education. Issues of
‘safety, risk assessment in Design and Technology environments, resource management strategies are
addressed,
