‘This subject explores a range of approaches to Design and Technology education in years 7-12. It
identifies the positon of design and technology in the school curriculum and explores design and the
‘design process as concepts and their role in teaching and learning. It assists students construct Design
and Technology technology-specifc lessons and program units of study that are challenging,
‘engaging, and supportive of student learning. Students will be introduced to practical student-centred
Jearning in Design and Technology education.
Particular attention will be devoted tothe implementation of relevant technology syllabi, authentic
pedagogies and assessment for leaming in the context of secondary technology education. Issues of
safety, risk assessment in Design and Technology environments, resource management strategies are
addressed.
