Maria Agnese Tribbioli

Who is this person (age, occupation, place of birth, etc.)?

-Maria Agnese Tribbioli is from Florence, Italy and lived there with her whole family. She
was Jewish and very religious. She went to synagogue and revolved her life around the
jewish religion. She was the founder of the Pie Operaie di S. Giuseppe Order, a place
where she openly accepted Jewish families as refugees to hide from the Germans.

Who did they save (including names) and how?

-She hid Jewish families and children from the Nazis during German raids. Someone
who she rescued, Cesare-David, remembers being welcomed by Maria as they arrived
at the convent, where they met other Jewish families hiding there with their children. All
the Jews lived in one hall, and a nun slept there with them for free. Cesare-David and
Vittorio joined the convent kindergarten.

When and why did they save others?

-Even though it put herself in great danger, Tribbioli wanted to do what was right and
save and protect as many Jews as she could. She actually never told the other nuns of
the real identities of their guests, just calling them "homeless refugees. During the time
of her saving the Jews, a nearby covent was raided by Germans so she helped all of
her refugees flee to safety.

What happened to the people they saved?

-The children were finally sent to an orphanage in the town of Montecatini, headed by
Father Facibeni. They stayed there until liberation, and were then reunited with their
parents

protect them even further. All the Jews lived in one hall in the building free of charge. In
the end, her hard work paid off. This is because a nearby covent was raided by
