Visual Investigation Idea Generation

The first ideas are for whiskey packaging. The design will
be printed onto coated paper, as labelling would have
used coated paper in the 1960s, with an ink jet printing.
This method was used during the 1960s. The stock will be
used as main colour with use of colour in typography and
imagery. A variety of sans serif and script typography will
be used as done in actual whiskey packaging.

The next set of ideas are for a cigarette carton. Matt

card was used for all packaging boxes during that time
and would be an appropriate stock to use for this design.
Again ink jet printing was a method used during the 1960s
and will be used on this prop. Block colour shapes and
foiling will be used in this design as these were popular
design methods. A mix of typefaces, script, serif and sans
serif will be appropriate as they were used in the 1960s.

The next set of ideas is for a biscuit packet. Made from

matt card stock and again printed using an ink jet printer.
Block colours recognisable from the 1960s will be used in
symbols and shapes of biscuits and wheat with the use
of sans serif typefaces. The use of these colours make an
emotional connection for the audience to the 1960s.

The idea for a tin of soup will be printed on a coated

stock that will be stuck to a tin and again printed using an
ink jet printer. Again block colours recognisable from the
1960s will be used in symbols and shapes that represent
soup. Sans serif typefaces will be used.

Another tin, this time of corned beef again printed into

coated stock as used in packaging labels, printed using an
ink jet printer. And again block colours and symbols and
shapes to represent corned beef. Sans serif typefaces are
appropriate as they were used during the time.

The last idea is for marmalade packaging, again using

coated paper which would have been used for labelling
on glass and printed on an ink jet printer. The use of block
colours, symbols and shapes to represent oranges, and
sans serif and serif typefaces are appropriate.
