Summary:
As social media and technology become more prominent in our society and in the
workplace, this study is used to explore the use of social media in the classroom in order to learn
better, and prepare students for their careers. Several businesses, today, use some form of social
media, and they believe that knowing social media, and being able to use it, is beneficial to
business. The researchers claim that the use of social media will enhance more learning among
students and prepare them for jobs that utilize social media. By incorporating technology in the
classroom, they are investigating how it can effect students ability to learn. Through a
questionnaire given to MBA students, the researchers are able to determine the effect social
media use has on learning.
Today, students are widely using social media, so it is important, according to
researchers, that they know how to utilize social media in a way to maximize learning. While
some believe that social media is a distraction, this article shares a study that showed that social
media engages students and increases learning. Although this journal believes that social media
has benefits to learning, they provide contrasting thoughts on the subject, but they counter those
claims with some of their own, continuing with their allegation. In their conclusion, the
researchers reveal that the use of social tools is relatively low, but that they have perceived high
value, assuming the high value is in learning and for use in future careers.
