Mr. Beresford completed his work as a student teacher here during the month of March. He was assigned to work with our sixth grade teacher, Miss Erika Lofstgard, during this time. Thad the opportunity to observe Mr. Beresford in his work with the students and he did a great job. In the classroom he focused on preparing lessons that were very creative to engage all students in learning the material, He frequently utilized different types of resources to heighten students’ interest and to vary his instructional styles, He engaged the students in practicing their skills in a variety of ways. For example, in reviewing for a math exam, he had them play an integers review game, where students could practice and review the concept on their own and with peers in a fun way. Mr. Beresford also had a great rapport with students, as he showed deep love for them and a desire for them to succeed. He learned each of the students’ names within a couple of days of being in the classroom, which is something that really impressed me. During his tenure here, Mr. Beresford continually grew in his ability to teach students in different subjects, while monitoring their progress and modifying his instruction to meet their needs, Thave no doubt that Mr. Beresford will be an asset in any school in which he would teach and that his students and their families will benefit by having him as their teacher.
