This reference letter is provided at the request of Freddie Parker who has asked me to
serve as a reference on her behalf. As her Gooperating Teacher I have had an opportunity to
observe her participation and interaction in my Algebra II and Advisory classes and to evaluate
her knowledge of the subject matter. I would rate Freddie's overall performance in the subject
as excellent.
‘Through the course of Freddie’s student teaching she has demonstrated through her
instruction a proficient understanding of the prerequisite knowledge and content knowledge
needed to be a successful teacher in mathematics. It is very difficult to convey mathematical
topics, if you are not sure how to do the problems yourself but Freddie knows her math, I was
impressed with the way she took over my Algebra II course, which is not an easy subject, and
‘was able to transfer the subject matter to the students in an effective and efficient manner.
Freddie’s best attribute, in my opinion, is her classroom presence. From the very
beginning she seemed very comfortable and relaxed in front of the classroom. You could tell
that she had experience being in front of people and leading groups of students. I think the
thing that impressed me most about her was how much time and effort she put into being
prepared for class every day. She always had her lessons done in advance and made sure she
knew what she was talking about before she got up in front of the class to talk about it.
Outside of the classroom Freddie was also very helpful and thoughtful as well. I'm the
Quiz Bow! Coach here at Meridian High Schoo! and she approached me about how she could
help out and be a part of the team while she was here. She also put together a great community
service project that connected exponential functions to the real world issue of controlling the
pet population. She arranged for students to present their findings at the local animal shelter
and it ended up making the front page of the local newspaper.
In closing, Freddie has a lot of potential and ability to do whatever she sets sets her
mind to accomplish. She would be a candidate that would warrant setious consideration for
anything she applies for. I would be willing to discuss Freddie's character and ability further if
you believe it is necessary. Feel free to contact me at 989-687-3300 from 8 till 2:30 or at
989-506-9172 in the evening.
Sincerely, .
