Hand Warmer Challenge

By: Matt Lozovoy, Tyler Abell, Anthony Nilsen, Eli Rossman

Our Design:
We have a zip lock bag that we heat sealed full of water, and then placed that bag
within another plastic bag of harder material that contained the ionic salts. When
you want to use the hand warmer as it is supposed to be used, you pop the inner
bag of water and the reaction between the ionic salts and water creates the heat
to warm your hand.

H20 CaCl
Goal:
To create a reaction that provides a high increase of heat(approximately 20
degrees), with a design that holds the heat as long as possible. Our design also
has to be small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
Math

- 3 grams per hand warmer

- 10 Ml of water

Manageable Price: $1.18 per 100 grams

=3.5 cents of CaCl per handwarmer
