Ashley was an intern in ‘my department during the winter and spring of 2017, and she taught a section of my English 11. as well as a fundamentals course named Core English. We worked closely throughout this time on. building management skills, English curriculum and grading systems. In fact, | had sworn off taking interns for @ while because of two experiences that were a bit disappointing. | truly love my job, and I find it difficult to place my students in another teacher's care unless the individual is exceptionally dedicated and caring about ‘each student's success and learning, Ashley Quinn was this and more, and | was so very glad that our paths crossed. She renewed my faith in student teachers and was such a powerful force in our students’ classroom experience. Glancing at her resume, her accomplishments are impressive, However, there are elements that ‘cannot be captured on paper. For example, Ashley's curiosity and love of learning consistently showed during her classroom discussions. She crafted lessons with students in mind-and was sure to include engaging and creative elements along the way. An example would be a mindfulness unit she created for the Core English class. This isa course designed for students who traditionally struggle ‘with English; it allows the teacher an opportunity for re-teaching and connecting with a difficult population. In her unit, Ashley included all manner of engaging activities that allowed students to ‘explore learning preferences and strategies for success. My favorite days with her were watching the kids use movement to help them refocus. Further, the kids adored Ashley, and she was able to reach and connect with each and every one to show them that she cared. This is not an easy task with this, population. Another noteworthy element that impressed me was her reliability. She is always prepared, punctual, and invested. You can count on her, and that means a great deal in the world of education, ‘Ashely is all things good and kind, She is the type of person who lifts her students up and helps them believe they can do it no matter how hard it may be. Ashley knows how to read kids and has myriad strategies to manage and draw out not only their confidence as learners but also their best work, Her intelligence, sense of humor, devotion to learning and growth, and openness to her colleagues and students would make her the perfect fitin any district. It is for these reasons and more that | recommend Ashley Quinn for employment consideration.
